Overview
BlueSq is certainly not one of the biggest betting sites out there, but it still provides a service to a number of people looking to take a punt on various sporting events. It is owned by the Rank Group and has been in operation since 1999, when it was formed as a traditional bookmaker – not the online one that we know now. Aside from offering gambling services, they also sponsor the Football Conference, which is one of the lower tiers of English football. Sister companies to BlueSq include Mecca and Grosvenor Casinos.
Registration
To register on BlueSq, all you need to do is click on the “Open a New Account” link found in the top right hand corner of the page. This will then take you through to a form that needs to be filled out, including details about yourself and about any payment methods that you are going to want to use. Don’t forget to write your password down in a safe place so that you don’t forget it in the future! Also, remember to uncheck the boxes at the bottom if you don’t want BlueSq to contact you regarding offers, news and bonuses.
The Blue Square Website
BlueSq’s website certainly does the job; it provides all of the information that a gambler will need for a whole host of different sports, and it also tells people of the different deals that they are promoting for specific events. This obviously makes the punter’s task a lot easier, as there are some sites that simply don’t show the information in a way that is conducive to ease of use.
Despite the fact that the site is easy to use, it does lack one thing – it simply doesn’t look very nice! Now I know that this is a pretty vain thing to say, but it’s a fact that the visual aspect of site can severely affect how enjoyable it is to use. It would be nice if BlueSq could spend some time and provide a little visual stimulation for their players – at the moment it is all content and no style.
The Blue Square Sportsbook/Markets
BlueSq provides a large selection of different sports, although it is not up there with the likes of 888Sport and Bet365 when it comes to the diversity that it offers. Obviously all of the major ones are there, such as football, golf, rugby and cricket, but they are missing some of the smaller sports that many people like to bet on, such as bandy and squash. This is not a huge problem though, as 99% of people will be happy with the selection.
The most impressive part of the whole site is found when you click for specific details on one of the markets that they are covering, as the depth of coverage is vast. Just for one football game, they offer over 40 different odds on site, as well as odds for the correct score. This eclipses nearly every other site on there. These are also often slightly more obscure – after all, they did experiment for a while in the early 2000s with odds on snail racing – which makes for some fun for those looking to get away from the usual fare.
Promotions
It is a fact that people signing up to betting sites look at the bonuses offered more than anything else, so this plays a very important role in how successful a site is. Unfortunately, we could only find one bonus being offered on this site, which is:
Welcome Bonus. All new players get their first bet matched up to the value of £25, as long as the bet is also over £5.
Conclusion
BlueSq is a site firmly lodged in the middle of the pack when it comes to betting sites. While the site is easy to use, it is completely uninspiring, and the lack of bonuses is a real black mark against them. The depth of coverage that they offer on specific markets though is very impressive, so we would say that this is a site best suited to serious gamblers and not those looking for a one off bet.
